• Assisted in the creative direction of the project, aiding in the development of the layouts, color schemes, and design concepts of the spaces.
• Demolished a single-family unit and two (2) three-family apartments amongst a team, increasing my knowledge of the structures and foundations unto which each unit was formed and must be transformed relevant to our assignment.
• Renovated a single-family unit amongst a team. Included: increasing the square footage by constructing the basement for functionality, installing hardwood, vinyl, and tile flooring throughout all four (4) floors, installing new windows, and performing window treatments, constructing two standalone showers and one tub-shower combination, and executing wall treatments throughout the home.
• Assisted in the daily operations for the financial division, processing invoices, executing payroll activities, and aiding the VP of finance with the processing for accounts receivable.

• Assisted the daily operations for the gear department, curating and analyzing panelboard drawings.

• Co-managed daily tasks for the operations department, tracking inventory, fulfilling shipping orders, and updating delivery milage and incidents.

Being one of eight children, one of twenty-four grandchildren, and the first college educated child of my household, I take pride in my accomplishments and feel fueled to continue proving my worth to myself.
My family is massive and I love having them to look up to and push me to strive for more, and I love being the example for my siblings. Being an elder sister to four and finding purpose in my loved ones I have lost; every day I feel motivated to continue to show up as my best and make the most of my life experiences.
My greatest accomplishment is being a great sister to my younger brothers. Nothing I have done or will do in my future will make me feel prouder than knowing my siblings value me and feel they can count on me. As many of us older siblings know, fulfilling this role comes with A LOT of understanding, love and patience, but it is very rewarding!
I live for sports! I grew up as a student-athlete in a sports heavy household, so even till this day, every weekend and many weekdays are dedicated to sporting events.

I also enjoy games of all sorts. Game nights are my ideal version of fun and have been become a family tradition throughout my extended family of 1,000,000 people... so every family gathering is a time to be alive!
​
Lastly, I thoroughly enjoy traveling! Since I was 5 years old, my family and I have traveled every year. Being the eldest, with my youngest sibling being 10 years younger than me, I got to enjoy a new addition to the travel team over the years which has grown my love for family trips (watching your family grow is such a wild experience ahaha).
The experience of being black in America is very unique. Having grown up around the people in my community, I was given a family and the way we love each other, bask in our joy, and support one another is beyond measure.
​
However, I am not ignorant to what our communities and community members lack, struggle with and are up against. With this understanding and a want to see people like me succeed, I have a deep passion and care for the betterment of my people. As you go through my portfolio, you'll learn of I Am Her, which is my business idea for a mentorship program for young, black girls, and my first big movement towards contributing towards the change I wish to see.
Once I graduate, I plan to pursue my current path as an entrepreneur. I will heavily pursue growing my current catering business, The Blueprint by M.J. LLC and jumpstart my next business venture, I Am Her.
